The iconic Bendigo Tramways Depot and Workshop is currently closed to public and undergoing a $10.7 million expansion, significantly increasing the number of trams which can be restored at the facility – creating jobs and providing a boost to the local economy.

Bendigo Tramways is a centre for excellence in heritage rolling stock restoration and the leading provider of tram restoration services in Australia.

The expansion will enable us to increase the number of trams that can be restored by creating additional storage space and upgraded workshop equipment – increasing employment opportunities and generating economic activity in Central Victoria.

The expanded workshops will also enable the relocation of up to 30 retired W-Class trams currently in storage.

The expansion will also be a drawcard for visitors to the city, with a new tram cafe and interpretation space being a highlight.

The Bendigo Tramways expansion is being delivered by the Victorian Government, in partnership with the City of Greater Bendigo and Bendigo Heritage Attractions.
