Did you know that Bendigo Tramways has been in operation since June 1890!
Bendigo Tramways is a living piece of history that has been entwined with the city's identity since 1890 and provides a glimpse into the Bendigo of old. No other Australian city which closed its tramway system left track, trams and a depot behind in the manner that Bendigo did. Our Depot is now the oldest operating tram depot in Australia and we operate the best working collection of trams in the world.
We are renowned for our ability to restore heritage trams and our fleet of Vintage Talking Trams are a testament to this. Whether enjoying a Vintage Talking Tram Tour, the Anzac Centenary Tram or a guided group tour of our Depot & Workshop, a visit to Bendigo Tramways drives home the significance of how Bendigo has developed as a city, and the role that Bendigo Tramways has played in that development.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to extenuating circumstances the Vintage Talking Tram Tour will only be operating between Central Deborah Gold Mine and Lake Weeroona. Tysons Reef and the Bendigo Joss House Temple will not be accessible by tram. Throughout this period, all tram tickets will include a brief guided tour of our Depot & Workshop. We apologise for the inconvenience.
