In 2014 The Bendigo Trust, City of Greater Bendigo and Regional Development Victoria commissioned Urban Enterprise and Cardno to carry out a study on the future direction of the Bendigo Tramways.

SANTA TRAM! 13-24 December 2014

Santa and his elves were in Bendigo hiding at a secret location from 13 – 24 December. Luckily, the SANTA TRAM knew how to find him. Families jumped aboard, had thier photos taken with Santa and let him know what they wanted for Christmas!

A feasibility study will determine if trams are a viable public transport option for Bendigo

The Victorian Coalition Government is investing $80,000 from its $1 billion Regional Growth Fund in a feasibility study for track improvements and extensions to the existing Bendigo tramline. The study will evaluate the existing Bendigo tramline, depots and fleet in the context of a mixed tourism and public transport development plan. Read Bendigo Advertiser article here ...

 

ABCABC Central Victoria celebrated their 21st birthday with a live tram broadcast on Friday 23 May 2014

Fiona Parker's Morning program invited listeners to jump aboard as they broadcasted LIVE from Tram No. 44 on Friday 23 May from 8:30am. Back in May 1993 the station marked their opening by taking listeners and the community on one of our historic trams and now, 21 years on, they have taken the Morning Program on the tram for the two and a half hour program. Guests aboard the tram were joined by past ABC presenters; Maureen O'Keeffe, Alison Rogers, Tony Allan, Dave Lennon, Derek Guille and Fiona Boyd.

April 16 marked the 40th anniversary of the last day that trams ran as public transport in Bendigo. The Bendigo Tramways recognised this historically significant day by running the same tram that did the final trip from Eaglehawk to Bendigo 40 years ago. On Sunday 15 April, Tram No. 26 was decorated in the same manner that it was 40 years ago and the driver, Stephen Kirkpatrick and conductor, Joseph Gould, were dressed in the old State Electricity Commission (SEC) uniforms.

Bendigo Tramways will play a major role in maintaining Melbourne’s iconic W-class trams. Bendigo Tramways is gearing up to take delivery of the second W-class tram as part of an $8 million restoration program. Minister for Public Transport Terry Mulder said the program would run over four years and the ongoing maintenance work was great for Bendigo.

Auckland-Trams

Bendigo Tramways supplies two trams to the brand new Auckland Waterfront Tourist Tramway
Both trams are expected to spend at least five years in service on this new tram system, however, before being sent off, both trams were serviced and restored into mint condition in the Bendigo tram workshop.
