Bendigo Tramways is currently able to offer a number of new and second hand parts for sale.

 

New parts, all Australian Made, can be made to suit your requirements, and come accompanied with Certificates of Conformity from the manufacturers.

 

Second hand parts (ex Bendigo and Melbourne) are offered in overhauled ‘better than new’ condition, or in as removed (un-overhauled) condition.

 

Overhauled Parts and New Parts will require a lead time, As Removed Parts can be supplied immediately ex stock.

 

Individual digital images of all components can be supplied on request.

 

Other items or greater quantities may be able to be sourced by Bendigo Tramways – contact us for all enquiries.

 

All prices are in Australian Dollars and exclude GST, and are ex our Depot in Bendigo.  (Australian customers must add 10% GST.)  To enquire about prices, please email the Tramways Manager.

 

Pricing for new components varies depending on quantities and your individual requirements.  We aim to give a competitive price on all items – call or e-mail us to discuss your needs.

Cast Iron Brake Shoes: These 33" brake shoes are currently used in Bendigo, and on the Adelaide-to-Glenelg tramway in South Australia.  Test Certificates giving chemical composition included.  View image and price.
Composite Brake Shoes: These brake shoes are currently used in Bendigo and Melbourne, and suit 26” and 28” wheels.  Test Certificates giving chemical composition included.  View image and price.

WH Type 'W' SELF LAP:

These Westinghouse brake valves are ex Melbourne W2 class trams.  They are set up for left-hand release/right-hand apply, however, can be re-configured to right-hand release/left-hand apply if required.  View image and price.

Side Frames:

These side-frames are ex Bendigo/Melbourne California Combination trams.  They were cast in Melbourne and Castlemaine in Victoria in the 1910 – 1920 period.  View image and price.

GE K35 Controllers:

(4 currently available)

These General Electric controllers are ex Melbourne W2 class trams, and are fitted with a ratchet switch for operating a line breaker.  They are suitable for 2-motor and 4-motor trams.  View image and price.

GE K63 Controllers:

These General Electric controllers are ex Melbourne X1 class trams, and can be supplied with dead-man’s handles on request.  They are suitable for 2-motor trams.  View image and price.

WH TIC/TIF Controllers:

These Westinghouse controllers are ex Bendigo/Melbourne California Combination trams.  Their circuit protection uses a circuit breaker rather than a line breaker.  They are suitable for 2-motor trams up to 45 HP/motor.  View image and price.

Pantograph to Streetcar Pole Converter:

 A trolley base mounting made for Sydney Tramway Museum which fits on the insulated bolts on the pantograph mount of Z class #111, enabling the tram to be run as a pole car.  View image.

Brill 21E Pattern Trucks:

Bendigo Tramways is proud to offer complete NEW Brill 21E pattern trucks for sale.  View image and price.  Features of these trucks include:

  • Precision cut steel side-frames to your specified wheel-base

  • Spoked cast 33” wheels on new axles to your gauge

  • Supplied with motors, or matched to your motors

  • Cast two-piece gears to match motor pinions

  • Certificates of Conformity for all components

  • All work completed to the standards required by Australian Standard 4292, and/or to suit your regulatory requirements

Individual new components can also be supplied.

MMTB 1A:

 These trucks were originally under tram 441 in the Bendigo fleet.  They are awaiting replacement of the tyres on the wheels.  View image and price.

MMTB 1B:

 These trucks are currently in use under tram 441 in the Bendigo fleet.  They contain solid disc wheels that have good flanges, and sufficient depth for a further turning.  The truck frames and brake rigging were recently overhauled by the Bendigo Tramways.  Motors can be re-insulated on request.  View image and price.

MMTB 1A & 1B:

 These trucks are ex Melbourne W2 class trams.  Several options of truck frames, motors and wheel sizes are available.  View image and price.
MMTB 1A & 1B (unmotored):

These trucks are ex Melbourne – Preston Workshops, and are used for placing under bodies under refurbishment while their trucks are overhauled.

 

Two other styles of workshops trucks are available – both of which are set up with trestles to allow underfloor repairs to trams.  View image and price.
MMTB 2B: These trucks are manufactured brand new, using MMTB W2 equipment.  They are ideal for use under heritage single truck streetcars such as Birney cars.

Saloon Cable Tram Truck: This ex Melbourne saloon cable tram truck is fitted with cast iron wheels with chilled flanges, and is complete with brake rigging.  It is suitable for static display or occasional use only.  View price.
