M&MTB No 610

Updated: 15 August 2008

14th August 2008:

Before a small gathering of tram enthusiasts, Bendigo Trust members and personnel involved with the restoration of the tram, M&MTB "Yapper" #610 was formally launched as a Vintage 'Talking' Tram at the Bendigo Tramways.

31st July 2008:

#610 ran trials today and performed "flawlessly".  It is anticipated that an official re-launch of the tram will take place on Thursday 14th August 2008 at 11.00am.  Details regarding the re-launch will be posted closer to the event.

March 2008:

The tram nears the final stages of its restoration with the application of the M&MTB decals.

Late 2007:

After May, work on the tram was suspended because other projects had taken priority.  However in October it was decided that a concerted effort would be made to have the tram ready to operate on 8rh December - the 35th anniversary of the commencement of tramway operations at Bendigo by The Bendigo Trust.

May 2007:

Since its arrival at Bendigo in 2005, the tram has under-gone the time-consuming and laborious task of stripping the interior of the "color-fleck".  This is now complete with the interior ceiling surface now ready for the application of varnish.  The exterior of the tram has been prepared for re-painting, whilst the roof of the tram has been water-proofed and re-painted.
