Restoration of NSWGT Double-deck #33

July 2008:

Foot-treads and hand rails have been fitted to the stairs to the upper deck of #33 in time for the visit of members of the Sydney Tramways Museum on the weekend of 5th and 6th July 2008.

 

 

May 2008:

The interior seats are in the process of being installed as are the completed window sashes.  The two spiral stair cases have been completed and installed, with only the foot treads to be fitted.

 

 

April 2008:

The two spiral stair cases have been completed and are in the process of being installed.

 

March 2008:

The top deck flooring has been completed.

 

 

February 2008:

The top deck flooring is nearing completion, as are the end-platform deck supports.

Builder:

Hudson Brothers, Sydney, New South Wales (1898) for the New South Wales Government Tramways.  The tram was converted to a double-deck tram in 1907, but reverted to a single-deck tram in 1908.  In 1924 the tram became a Works Shunter at the Randwick Workshops and was scrapped in 1959.

 

Technical Information:

Trucks - Peckham or Brill 21E.  Motors - 2 X 48 hp GE67.  Braking - hand brakes and magnetic track brakes.  Weight - 8.41 tons.  Length - 25 feet.
